Background
Peter Middleton was a sales and marketing manager for Imperial Tobacco. He has since retired.[1]
When Middleton left Imperial Tobacco, he established his own company called PLCM Consultants.
Middleton's company was dissolved in November 2013.[2]
Tobacco Industry Consulting
PLCM Consultants worked for the tobacco industry in the late 1990s and early 2000s.[3]
Middleton regularly represented PLCM at meetings held by the Campaign Group of the Tobacco Manufacturers' Association (TMA).[3][4][5] It is unclear from the documents whether PLCM Consultants was working directly for the TMA, or for a tobacco company that was member of the TMA.
In 1999 Middleton gave an affidavit in a judicial review brought by Imperial Tobacco, Gallaher, Rothmans and British American Tobacco of the UK Government's proposed ban on tobacco sponsorship and advertising.[1]
