In April 2015 he left the tobacco company.[1]
Career at BAT and Reynolds American
Withington joined BAT as Senior Mergers and Acquisitions Lawyer in 1993, following a legal career in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. He has held several leadership positions, including:[1]
- Legal and Security Director and General Counsel of British American Tobacco (2000-2015)
- Deputy General Counsel (1998 – 2000)
- Assistant General Counsel and Head of Product Liability (1996 – 1998)
Withington was also a Director of Reynolds American Inc. (RAI) from July 2004 until 2014.[2] Ricardo Oberlander succeeded Withington on the RAI Board.[3]
