Background
Eamonn Butler is the director of the Adam Smith Institute, which he co-founded with his brother, Stuart Butler, and Madsen Pirie in 1978. [1]
Butler is also the vice president of the Mont Pelerin Society. [2] He sits on the Advisory Board of Nurses for Reform. [3]
Pro-Tobacco
Butler is intricately linked to Forest. He is an "officer" of the "Friends of FOREST Facebook, which is run by Simon Clark of Forest. [4]
He is also a columnist for The Free Society, which is also run by Forest. [5]

The Letter to the Daily Telegraph
In March 2011, Butler was one of 11 signatories of a Letter to the Editor to the Daily Telegraph attacking the Government's position on tobacco control and arguing against further restrictions.
